Launch of catalogue - Book Fair and Exhibition:
IDEA/You are De-corator is a remake of an Ikea catalogue to include the work of up to 70 contemporary artists. Through simple alterations, using the Ikea catalogue as a site in which to collage in artwork, we feel that we can make an elegant comment on mass productions and the role of the artist in today's society. This limited handmade edition is the very opposite of the mass produced Ikea handout. The new catalogue allows people to arrange their own exhibition against various domestic backdrops. An exhibition will accompany the publication.
"On considering the proposition that perhaps curating has been reduced to a process of modular
interior design, not unlike the ethos of IKEA, I wondered if it were possible to write in this
way too. How self-reflexive it would be to somehow generate an essay with the same mechanical
inevitability of the worst thematic group shows. As luck would have it, there is an on-line essay
generator that has enabled me to do just this. I have typed in a few key words, pressed a button
and - viola! - a bespoke essay on the IKEA style of curating. Let this be a lesson to us all."

De-corator is an international London-based curatorial collective that has come together through Dali/Central St Martins College of art. De- Corators: Oskia Alvarez, Ramiro Camelo, Dominika Cudak, Elisa Ferrero, Suzanne Golden, Maria Stathi. This is their debut project.
